Global animal welfare organizations strive to rehabilitate, exploit and assist animals around the world. Such organizations act as critical safety nets providing services such as rescue, healthcare, and advocacy. Volunteering to take care of the injured animals and giving them solace for as long as they need for therapy is what makes these organizations impactful alongside other vital such as:

  • Rehabilitation and release of wildlife and injured animals
  • Restoration of law and advocacy anc civ on animal welfare

American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA): Established in 1866 the `ASPCA` is the first humane organization was founded in the Western Hemisphere. It focuses in rescuing animals from abuse, advocating humane laws, providing resources for nationwide shelter and advocacy arms.

International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW): Founded on 1969 IFAW is operational in 40 plus countries. IFAW focuses on the rescue of individual animals, protection of genocidal population, and environment as a whole.

Humane World for Animals: Founded over 70 years ago, this organization has been the leader of the protection side of all animals. Focusing on the reduction and elimination of cruelty and suffering to all animal around the globe.

The Humane League: This international non-profit started in 2005 aims to stop the cruelty towards animals used in food through corporate, media, and community outreach activities.

Mercy For Animals: Focuses on preventing cruelty to farmed animals and promoting violence-free food policies and compassion since 1999.

Animal Welfare Institute (AWI): Founded in 1951, AWI fights against the suffering of animals inflicted by humans. Some of its focus areas include factory farming, animal testing, and destruction of natural habitats.

FOUR PAWS International: An international non-profit organization that seeks to uncover suffering, rescue needy animals, and protect them globally.

PAWS (Progressive Animal Welfare Society): Focused on rehabilitating, treating and releasing sick, injured, and orphaned animals back to their natural habitats.

Current Issues Concerning Animal Welfare

Closure of RSPCA Noosa: It has been reported that RSPCA Noosa will close down in 2025. After 32 years of helping 33,000+ animals, this marks the decline of the impounded animals which reflects improved care for pets and better welfare in the region.

The Great Elephant Relocation Controversy: The villagers living adjacent to the Kasungu National Park in Malawi are suing IFAW after the relocation of over 260 elephants into the area as it allegedly led to human deaths and considerable property damage.

AAP Primadomus Anniversary: This year AAP Primadomus is celebrating 15 years in Villena, Alicante. They have rescued and rehabilitated more than 450 primates and big felines. The organization works on improving the laws and care given to animals on a welfare level.
